Third Time Lucky!

Hello again,

Well, I failed totally in my last blog to upload the pictures, so here goes again!!

Eureka, I've done it!,  I have no idea why I couldn't do it before, but never mind I've managed it at last.

Anyway this is my version of Mandy Monroe's Interrupted Log Cabin wall hanging.  I apologise for the crude method of hanging it, but will sort out something  better later on.

I have been quite busy since my last blog, making cards and some patchwork too.

These are the cards I've made:

Actually this one isn't a card at all, but a gift box I made for my Grand daughter's birthday present.   This is the card I made for her to go with the present.

A get well message for a friend in Devon who has recently had an operation.

A 'big birthday' card for my Son's partner.

A card for my eldest Granddaughter

Well, success at last.  Hopefully next time it will be much easier.

We're off to Devon for he weekend and the annual Hot X Bun parade on the seafront tomorrow morning.  Let's hope gain is shining!

HAPPY EASTER

Bye for now

Jean

Hello again,

Another chilly week has gone by, so an opportunity to do some crafting.

This week I've been busy catching up on some patchwork/quilting and made just one card, for a friend's 70th birthday.  Picture below:

In December I posted a photo of a patchwork block I'd made called Interactive Log Cabin, based on a wall hanging by Mandy Munroe.  A reminder below:

I've now completed three blocks, joined them together and quilted them to make a table runner or wall hanging.  Although, I'm not sure we have a wall space that will take it!  I just have the binding to add and will then show you the finished piece in all its glory.

ONE WEEK LATER!

Oops I forgot to post this last week.  More brain cells dying I suppose!

Anyway here is the completed wall hanging in all its glory!

OR NOT!!!!!

Watch this space.....

Hello,

My resolve to update my blog each weekend failed last week, but I have a good excuse.  We had my younger daughter's three children to stay overnight Sunday and Monday nights as their Mum was at a Trade Fair in Frankfurt.  We then had the children all day Wednesday and Thursday too as its half term.  So you could say that we are both feeling knackered!

Anyway, our reward is that last night we drove down to Devon, just the two of us, for a few days peace and quiet.

Here are two cards I managed to finish off though.  One is obviously a Valentine card and the other is one I made for the children's childminder who had just received an ’Outstanding' award from Ofsted.

No card making or sewing for a few days now!  But, I will be back.

Hello again,

Well, another busy week, not all crafting though.  I did manage to make two birthday cards for friends and have started a Valentine card for my husband.   So all in all not too bad.

Here are photos of the cards made.

I've not managed to do any patchwork though, hopefully will do in the coming week, especially as I'm going to my Patchwork Group on Wednesday.  I haven't been for ages so think I need to have something to show for my absenteeism.

Must also remember it's Pancake Day on Tuesday, although I suspect my Grandchildren will remind me! No doubt I'll get lots of help or unhelp  from them!  All good fun.

Bye for now and take care

Jean

Hello again,

Well that was a busy week!  Phew....  Making cards, including one for a friend and one of my Grandsons, also a birthday cake for him, and my eldest daughter and family came for the weekend too, along with their beautiful Old English Sheepdog.  On top of this I've got the dreaded lurgy of a cough and cold that's going round at the moment.

At least it's. Nice bright morning today to start the week off.  Not such a busy week ahead, so feeling more relaxed.  What shall I do with myself, I wonder - probably a bit of card making and, hopefully, more sewing.  That's the plan anyway.

Here are photos of the cards and birthday cake I made last week

I must remember to take photos on a white background as they look much nicer I think.  It still takes me ages to remember how to upload the pictures from my iPad on to the blog.  I am getting there though.

Bye for now, have a good week.

Sunday 17 January

Hello again,

We've had a very busy weekend, as friends from Bognor Regis have been staying with us for a few days.  They arrived on Friday and we spent Saturday in London, going to the Royal Academy to see an art exhibition , then the Design Museum to see an exhibition called Cycle Revolution.  In the evening we went to the Sam Wannamaker theatre at The Globe to see Pericles.   All this was interspersed with regular stops for coffee, lunch, tea and an evening meal of course!!  Unfortunately when we got back to St Pancras the train to Gravesend was cancelled, so we had to get off at Ebbsfleet and get a bus to Gravesend.  It didn't make us much later though, so that was good.

Today we went to Eltham Palace which was surprisingly busy considering the time of year.  We decided to skip going to look around the gardens though because it was so cold.  We thought we'd go back in the Spring when the flowers are out.  I'm sure there were some out already though as we have a few daffodils out in our own garden.  Our friends then went home and we went to my daughter's house for roast dinner this evening.  All in all a very busy and enjoyable weekend.

My main reason for this entry though is (as promised) to show photos of my latest two projects.  This one is of my Autumn appliqué tree, not finished yet of course, but it's a step in the right direction.

I may just finish this one as a stand alone wall hanging, or do the other three seasons and join them all together.

The one below has just had the flowers and stems adhered to the fabric using bond a web.  I need to add some centres to some of the flowers before stitching.

I'd like to get on and complete these two projects but they will probably end up being added to my stockpile of ongoing masterpieces!!

This week I have a 2 birthday cards to make, both for the same day.  One for a friend and the other for my grandson who will be 10.  I'm also making him a birthday cake so a busy week ahead!

Bye for now

Jean

Monday, 11 January 2016

Hello, such a sad day having heard the news that Bowie has died today.  I've just downloaded Blackstar, the label says it all I think.

On a brighter note, I've begun the year with a new craft, appliqué.  I attended a workshop last week and going to another one this week.  I first tried appliqué a couple of years ago but not done any since.  Last week's workshop was four blocks, approx. 11" x. 8" each illustrating the four seasons.  I'll post a picture of my first one 'Autumn' when it'S finished.  Hopefully before Wednesday when I go to my next workshop which is an appliqué bouquet, run by the same lady!  I'd like to finish something rather than add it to my pile of works in progress!

Must get on.......
